Care & protection of vulnerable babies & children
Back to what we do overview page

The breakdown of traditional community support systems is largely due to HIV/Aids and urbanization, rape and statutory rape. Along with these factors, poverty is also a large contributor to the widespread abandonment and abuse of vulnerable babies and children.

The Almond Tree exists to create a net to catch vulnerable babies and children and place them into a loving family.

We offer a safe and loving home environment. Our trained Child and Youth Care Workers (CYCWs) understand trauma and are devoted to nurturing and rehabilitating each child.

Children with special needs are often misunderstood as cursed and are rejected by their family or community, being outcast or simply abandoned and left for dead. We provide the support needed to ensure that children with special needs are not forgotten, are given equal opportunity to live with dignity and are loved and encouraged to reach their fullest potential.

Children that have suffered through neglect or abuse are placed into a stable and restorative family at The Almond Tree Children’s Village where all their needs are met, including emotional, physical, medical and educational needs.
